Online calculator
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Basic Calculations
Use the number buttons (0-9) and basic operators (+, -, ×, ÷) for simple arithmetic.
Tip: Press “C” to clear everything or “CE” to clear just the current entry.
2. Using Scientific Functions
Click any scientific function button after entering a number to apply that function.
Tip: Toggle between DEG (degrees) and RAD (radians) using the DEG/RAD button.
3. Typing Expressions
Use the text area at the top to type complete mathematical expressions in natural format.
Tip: You can use parentheses to group operations: (2+3)×(4+5)
4. Memory Functions
Store and recall values using the 5 memory slots (M1-M5).
- MS: Store current value in selected memory
- MR: Recall value from selected memory
- M+: Add current value to selected memory
- M-: Subtract current value from selected memory
- MC: Clear selected memory
5. Special Features
ANS: Use your last calculated answer in new calculations
±: Change the sign of the current number (positive/negative)
1/x: Calculate the reciprocal of the current number
%: Calculate percentages
Keyboard Shortcuts
Use your keyboard for faster input: numbers, +, -, *, /, Enter (=), Escape (C), Backspace
Angle Modes
Switch between degrees and radians for trigonometric functions. DEG mode is for angles in degrees, RAD for radians.
Constants
Quick access to mathematical constants: π (pi) ≈ 3.14159 and e ≈ 2.71828
Pro Tips & Best Practices
Order of Operations
The calculator follows standard mathematical order: Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication/Division, Addition/Subtraction. Use parentheses to force specific calculation order.
Using Memory Efficiently
Assign different memory slots for different purposes: M1 for intermediate results, M2 for constants, M3 for final answers, etc.
Complex Expressions
For complex calculations, use the expression typing feature. It’s often faster than clicking individual buttons.
Error Handling
If you see “Error”, check for division by zero, invalid operations, or unmatched parentheses. Press “C” to clear and start over.
Keyboard Efficiency
Learn keyboard shortcuts for common operations. For example, type “pi” instead of clicking the π button when using the expression box.
